Drum lessons are highly beneficial for reducing anxiety, depression, and inflammatory immune response, and for increasing social resilience. Considering the high stress of living post-pandemic, learning to the drum can go a long way to improving one's mental outlook, as well as create an important rhythmic foundation for any musical instrument.

All those benefits are in addition to the "traditional" benefits of drumming instruction:

  • Increases confidence
  • Develops better communication skills
  • Lowers stress levels
  • Develops more brain power
  • Improves academic performance

In a group setting, drum lessons help students make new friends (true at any age - it's a bonding experience!) and everyone knows - drums are cool. And fun!

The truth is, any kind of music instruction requires the development of fine motor skills using both sides of the brain. This kind of activity creates new neural pathways, encourages creative thinking and can even boost IQ levels. Both verbal and non-verbal communication skills tend to be enhanced through any music instruction.

While drum instruction is appropriate for any age group, we do recommend pairing similar ages together. For this reason, we have specific days and times for group drum lessons for specific age ranges. Nothing is set in stone, however, and we will do the best we can to work with you and your student's scheduling needs.
